Community Life of Prayer Mar Spain

  • Apostolic Movement Cristo Rey
  • 10 Sep 2025

From the Training and Liturgy Team, these images about the community life of the constructors and communities of the kingdom in Spain throughout the Pastoral Course 2024-25 are sent to us.

Let's enjoy them and continue dreaming with a better world, serving with love and adding gifts.

footprints of women

«The life of prayer, personal and group, is necessary to put Christ at the center, so that only He lives and reigns in being and doing». This is clearly and concisely stated in the Statutes of the Christ the King Apostolic Movement, whose adult members in Spain have been meeting monthly during the current pastoral year around female figures who played a crucial role in the history of Salvation. From Ruth and Naomi to Mary Magdalene, passing of course through the Virgin Mary, the Christ the King laymen have traveled through the Holy Scriptures to Lydia, Priscilla and Phoebe. Women whose testimonies speak to us Christians today of heroism and self-sacrifice; of faith and commitment; of prayer and reconciliation.

In September they began the pastoral course with Ruth and Naomi,

taking the pulse to see the state of the commitment after the summer break. In the month of October, missionary month par excellence, Judith's book helped us consider the bravery and heroism that "Do Good". In November, Queen Esther and prayer helped them renew their commitment through naked prayer before the Lord.

Already in Advent, they left the Old Testament behind to close the Year of Prayer called by Pope Francis with Mary of Nazareth and her attentiveness to the needs of others: "They don't have wine".

The first month of the Jubilee Year, Builders and Communities discovered Jesus' encounter with the hemorrhagic woman and how the Lord has a word for each person, for each heart, according to the moment of life. February was the month of Bethany to find the balance between apostolic action and contemplation, like Martha and Mary. The days before Holy Week, in March, they prayed with the Johannine passage of the adulterous woman, remembering the words of Jesus: "Neither do I condemn you".

They lived Easter in April remembering their own vocation with Mary of Magdala, whom the risen Jesus calls by name as he calls each of us to a specific option and mission. May was the opportunity to meet Lidia, Priscila and Febe. Three women who, although they appear in Scripture, none of them knew the Lord personally, but discovered him thanks to the testimony of the apostles, as each member of the MAR is called to be a witness, an apostle of apostles.

In addition to the monthly community prayer, throughout the pastoral course Builders and Communities of the Kingdom have two very marked institutional dates on the calendar, Saint Agnes and Saint Joseph, in which the lay people of the Movement join the religious of the Institute in thanksgiving for the Mother and the Father, respectively. Also, during the pastoral course, special material was received by the Formation and Liturgy Team of Spain in response to the DANA catastrophe and the death of Pope Francis and the celebration of the conclave.
