The Hijas de Cristo Rey Institute was born to make Christ reign through education in children, families and society. This was the charismatic insight that Father José Gras y Granollers received from the Spirit of God and that led him to found this religious Institute on May 26, 1876, in Granada (Spain)
The following year Isabel Gómez Rodríguez, a native of Albuñol, entered the Institute under the name of Mother Inés de Jesús, her active cooperation with the Founder was fundamental in the consolidation and extension of the Institute, which receives definitive approval on August 16 of 1901, at the hands of Leo XIII.
In fidelity to this charism and seeking to respond to the educational needs of our world and to the new calls made to us by our brothers in situations of greater vulnerability and risk, we have been expanding in three continents, where we are present in different countries and realities:
- Europe: Spain, Italy and Albania.
- Latin America: Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Argentina.
- Africa: Senegal, Togo and Benin.
Our only desire is to make Christ present among men, joyfully giving life so that the world may feel his Reign of love, peace, good and life.
