Around the question “How much is life worth?” adult members of the Movement from all over Spain met in Granada on May 13 to be trained in the morality of the person, thus continuing the training already begun at the local level. The first part of the day was given by Diego Molina and dealt with the end of life. The diocesan priest, health pastoral delegate in Granada, emphasized the importance of creating a culture of care in society. Especially the care of all dimensions of the human being, not only physical and psychological, but also the social and spiritual dimensions. The chaplain of the Ruiz de Alda Hospital clarified concepts such as living will, palliative care and therapeutic effort; Terms that are frequently heard in conversations or in the media whose definitions and uses we really do not know.
After a break, we continued the meeting accompanied by Soledad Serrano and Ana Isabel Garralda, who spoke to us about the beginning of life. From their perspective accompanying people in the Raquel and Ángel Projects, they told us about legislation, figures, causes and consequences of pregnancy interruption. As well as the role of health professionals, and the existence of other options for induced interruption of pregnancy. It was very interesting to learn how the Church also attends to this social reality and to these people, fundamentally women, not from criminalization but from evangelical mercy.
After lunch, the Formation and Liturgy Team energized the work of “Evangelium Vitae.” When the participating Kingdom Builders and Communities arrived, they found a provocation, that is, an invitation or suggestion, located in the meeting space that invited them to participate, explore, discover... Next, small work groups were randomly created to deepen the in the different chapters of the encyclical through art: cinema, music and plastic arts.
We ended the meeting with a prayer for life before Mary, "Mother of the living."
Around the light of the paschal candle, the words of José Gras resounded, sending us to "make society, mortally wounded, feel the light and balm of life." This meeting concludes the first thematic block focused on the morality of the person of the Training Plan for the 2022-2025 Triennium of the Movement in Spain.
