Volunteering as a vocation (Part II)
The truth is that this Sunday meeting on Volunteering allowed me to learn more about this lifestyle that involves feeling called to be a "volunteer" serving your community for free. At the time of sharing our experiences in it and how we feel when doing it, I was able to realize that for young Catholics Volunteering has a deeper meaning than we imagine at first sight, since it not only involves the delivery of food or the teaching classes to children, but goes beyond the simple action of a specific moment, touching all the meaning of our lives.
When we feel called to this lifestyle, we give of ourselves to people, we seek to know their needs, not only material ones, we live thinking less of ourselves and more of others... and also, we accompany and complete the experience with a subsequent personal reflection about how we feel God in the other person and, so that volunteering can also build our own life, we confront this experience with someone who can help us deepen the meaning for which we carry it out.
I sincerely appreciate having been able to participate in this international meeting of PJV.
