“JESUS CHRIST KING” IN BROTHERHOOD IN THE REAP FOURTH EDITION
“Young people, be a message of unity in a divided world” Pope Leo XIV
The REAP is the Arquisiocesana Educational Network of Portoviejo, four schools from Portoviejo in Ecuador are part of it: Pedro Shumaker, Juan Mosco, Madre Laura Montoya, and Jesús Rey.
Every year there is a sports meeting of the four Educational Units.
The REAP sports meetings represent a space for integration and coexistence between the different institutions. The fourth edition took place on September 12 at the “Jesus Christ the King” School in the canton of El Carmen. They are not simple competitions, but an opportunity for children, adolescents and young people to express their talents, strengthen bonds of friendship and live the values of respect, solidarity and fraternity.
The main objective of these meetings is to promote the comprehensive training of students through sports, promoting healthy living habits and a healthy coexistence. In addition, they seek to develop the spirit of unity among the archdiocesan educational communities, strengthening institutional identity and creating an environment of joy, effort and cooperation.
The sports activities were carried out from its opening ceremony, and the competitions in four disciplines such as soccer, chess, basketball, and volleyball, were developed within a harmonious environment and healthy competition that strengthened the sports and educational spirit in the students.
REAP understands sport as a pedagogical and pastoral tool that helps students grow not only in their physical abilities, but also in their human and Christian values, becoming true protagonists of a more just and fraternal society.
We thank Monsignor Eduardo Castillo, who accompanied us during the development of this day, the collaboration and involvement of each teacher of the Institution and their cooperation to carry out the activity successfully.
Mr. Ángel Mejía, member of the EU Sports Commission. “Jesus Christ the King”, El Carmen (Ecuador).
