Last Saturday I was able to enjoy with my classmates from the Escuela Hogar de Albuñol a very endearing and at the same time exciting day for everyone. We were in Granada, learning about the origin and beginnings of our schools, the Cristo Rey schools and home schools.
Since last October I have been part of the educational team of the Escuela Hogar, where I perform a rewarding job.
It was in 2016 when I discovered the Cristo Rey de Jaén school, doing my teaching internship. At that time I did not know anything beyond his name and location, it was there that one of the most rewarding experiences for me began. I met wonderful teachers who taught me to get the best out of myself in order to transmit all the knowledge to the students always keeping in mind that "Love teaches how to teach", a phrase by Father Gras.
These five words, so simple and full of so much meaning, must always be present in our lives in order to transmit the love that our students need. All this was taught to me by Mrs. Rocío, for whom I will always be grateful.
But it was in September of last year, when I realized that dreams do come true, the Lord had prepared for me one of the greatest gifts I needed, what I wanted so much, to work in a school. A school in which I have been welcomed as I could never imagine, with care, love, support...
For this reason, on Saturday the entire teaching team together with the Religious Community decided to travel to Granada to learn more about the origin of our schools, the reason for that character that characterizes us so much and how to continue teaching with the values that Father Gras has taught us.
Our founder, a man of ideals, was very clear about what he wanted to achieve in life and never gave up until he achieved it despite the obstacles he encountered along the way.
Mari Angeles, one of the nuns who accompanied us, showed us the entire house of the Father, the museum, from the heart. The emotion with which she was explaining everything about herself to us was transmitted to her colleagues, a very endearing place for her and from now on for us. Knowing the great work carried out by the Father, together with mother Inés, and what they allowed the daughters of Cristo Rey to carry out, is a pleasure that we are willing to continue developing as teachers in the new José Gras Foundation, one of the ideals and values much needed in the lives of all citizens.
Approaching the Father has been a wonderful experience.
Thanks
Mercedes.
