Our community in Jaén (Spain) experienced on December 27 what could not be other than a GIFT from God, who else made it possible for 21 young people from 17 to 20 years old to fill our house with renewed and young life that December afternoon?
At 5:00 p.m., as we had agreed, they all showed up full of desire to spend the afternoon with us... Many of them didn't know each other except by sight, but at some point they showed up, we rehearsed a little, and they didn't mind carrying the cushions so they could go have a snack with the sisters, talk spontaneously with them for a while, and sing the songs together. carols characteristic of different generations. The joy and spontaneous conversations of HCRs and young people On that afternoon you can sense it in the photos and videos, but you cannot convey it in a few words.
After that intergenerational meeting space, which we did not want to end, they moved with their cushions to an oratory where only the manger shone. Upon entering they had to place something of their own at his feet, symbolizing their readiness for this time of contemplation of the newborn King. The basket was filled with silenced cell phones and we began with a notice that one of them read to us in a loud and clear voice: One of the consequences of making space in our lives to contemplate the Child God so tender and quiet in his manger, is that this visit can leave us irremediably touched forever.
We end the afternoon with the vespers, the young women joined the sisters' prayer with their cell phones in hand and the chapel illuminated. The thanksgiving and spontaneous requests completed a moment in which there could be no doubt about what we had all been thinking for a long time: “What we are experiencing today can only be a GIFT FROM GOD.”
To be more precise, one sister expressed that she had experienced a miracle, well yes, something like that must have happened, with the collaboration of everyone and a house with open doors, it was God who wanted to intervene by visiting us that afternoon.
