On October 21 in the main hall of the University of Comillas, the Academic Day took place with the title "Sustainable economy in the Church”, is part of the course of Specialists for Administration of Ecclesiastical Assets. The Superior General M. Patricia Suárez participated in it, accompanied by the Bursar General, Sr. Fátima López, who is taking said course.
The conference was chaired by the Archbishop of Madrid, Hon. Mr. Cardinal Carlos Osoro, and the topics were of great interest due to the reality that the Church lives at an economic level and the steps that the Magisterium of Pope Francis is taking.
The First Presentation was given by the Prefect of the Secretariat for Economic Affairs of the Holy See, Fr. José Antonio Guerrero S.J., who spoke about the economic reform of Pope Francis in the Vatican, touching as center points; the Vatican and its economy, the institutional change of Pope Francis and the criteria that have driven this change.
Next, Monsignor Rodríguez Carballo, Archbishop Secretary of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, intervened, who from the Document Economy at the service of the Charism and the Mission, stressed the importance of continuing to walk towards an economy with an evangelical key at the service of the mission.
Mr. David Alonso de Linaje, head of Religious Institutions at Caixabank, finished, who elaborated on the importance of good financial planning, which is present and future of people and of the Mission of religious Institutes.
D. Carlos Osoro gave way to the closing, thanking the organization of the day and encouraging us to live the economy at the service of evangelization.
We appreciated the opportunity to share with other Congregations and so many lay people committed to the field of administration, which must serve and not govern and place itself at the service of the Mission, as we were reminded throughout the day.
