Between December 17 and 18, the motto "Without you, we are not" has brought together a total of forty assembly members in Granada representing all the realities of the SEA in Spain. The assembly process began on November 22. Since then, each local area has been doing a work of reflection and discernment centered on the passage from the Letter to the Christians of Corinth: "The body is not made up of a single member, but many".
The Pauline text has also been the backbone of the Collegiate Government Body that met over the weekend. After the words of Rocío Pérez de Ayala, General Adviser, we began the Assembly through the eyes, looking inward and internalizing the words of José Gras "give, Lord, unalterable serenity to my gaze." Next it was time for the feet and nose. The first ones served to make us feel like Church, walkers together with millions of people who have preceded us in the footsteps of the King throughout the centuries. Through the Christifidelis laici
we rediscover our being lay people to then “stick our noses” into our Movement. Saturday morning ended with arms. In a fraternal atmosphere, the Movement allowed itself to be embraced by the Institute, and later the Movement embraced the Institute that gave us life.
After lunch, the mouth served to "review the operation of the Movement at the National level" as our Statutes mark. Next, the Assembly had the future of MAR in its hands, which after invoking the Spirit, proceeded to the election of the National Council for the 2022-2025 Triennium. Immediately afterwards, the Assembly went to the crypt of Venerable José Gras to present him to María Inmaculada the elected Council: Beatriz Palomo (Delegate), Elsa Calvo (Vice Delegate), Lucía Cano (Secretary) Pablo S. Fernández (Treasurer). There, the four elected laymen, together with Rocío Pérez de Ayala (Adviser), prayed the Magnificat.
Sunday morning was marked by the ears, because through the listening circles the Assembly proceeded to "mark options and priorities" for the coming years. The last part of the body, the heart, was presided over by Mary who "kept all these things, and meditated on them in her heart." The II National Assembly ended with the Eucharist shared with the Daughters of Christ the King in the same place where also on December 18, but in 1992, a group of young people made their first commitment.
The II National Assembly has been a kairos, a few days of grace to encourage and promote, from evangelical criteria, the functioning, the sense of belonging and the good relationship between the members of the Movement throughout Spain.
