On September 26, 2020, the educators of the College of Jaén (Peru), lay people and religious, together with the sisters of Colasay and Saquisilí, had the opportunity to participate in a Formation day, as a workshop, in which Sister. Rocío Ortiz accompanied and guided us.
This meeting was planned in person, but the circumstances to which we have to respond this year have led us to be more creative and unite beyond distance. On this occasion, the topic in which we were able to delve deeper was the following: “Spirituality in 21st Century education” or, in other words, “How to educate the spiritual dimension in our TODAY?”
They were intertwined as a workshop: prayer, content, sharing, contributions... all of this, having as a backdrop "the spiritual works of mercy" adapted to our being as educators today. There was also no lack of a touch of how the spirituality of José Gras, a man of the 19th century, continues to have its contribution and its adaptation to the spirituality of our TODAY, men of the 21st century.
Beyond the fact that the topic could be useful for the education of our students, we have been able to deepen our personal way of understanding and living the spiritual dimension in our own lives. Perhaps, because only what we can truly experience from within becomes a source of wealth to be able to transmit to others.
Gratitude and desire to continue developing our spiritual intelligence is what remains as a trace to share from the testimony of our own life with those who are entrusted to us, aware that... "education is like a second creation."
